Maria Fiorini Ramirez is President & CEO of Maria Fiorini Ramirez, Inc., an independent global economic and financial consulting firm formed in August 1992.
Prior to forming in 1992 her 100% owned consulting firm, in 1990 she established a join venture with John Hancock Freedom Securities Corporation -Maria Ramirez Capital Consultants, Inc., In 1992, the partnership was dissolved, and Mrs. Ramirez founded MFR. Before venturing on her own, Mrs. Ramirez was Managing Director and Money Market Economist at Drexel Burnham Lambert from 1984 to 1990. Previously, she was Senior Vice President and Senior Money Market Economist at Becker Paribas and First Vice President and Senior Money Market economist at Merrill Lynch from 1974 to 1984. She started her career at CIT followed by 5 years as American Express International Bank where she was the first woman in the Banks Management training program.
Mrs. Ramirez has been frequent speaker at U.S. and international forums and for decades a regular guest on numerous television and radio networks, such as CNN, CNBC, ABC, Fox Business News, Bloomberg Financial News, PBS, CBS, and TV Tokyo. She has also been a frequent contributor to Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Japan’s leading financial publication as well as Standard and Poor and other domestic and foreign publications.
Mrs. Ramirez has a BA in Business Administration and Economics from Pace University. Mrs. Ramirez was a member of the Board of Trustees of Pace University through 2014, is a member of its Lubin School advisory Board. Currently she is on the Board of Directors of Security Mutual Life, Metropolitan Commercial Bank and Vasayo. In 2020 Mrs Ramirez retired from the Investment Advisory Board of Edward Jones & Co. after 25 years of service. Maria has utilized her economic and financial expertise to a great advantage as director of a diverse group of public, private corporations as well as not-for-profit organizations, some of which she continues to serve as a board member.

George Ramirez joined MFR Securities, Inc. (MFR or the Firm) in 1999. Together with the founder of the firm, Maria F. Ramirez, Mr. Ramirez has built a thriving enterprise that clearly fulfills its mission and is also a leader in the diversity space.
Prior to joining MFR, Mr. Ramirez had a very successful career in commercial banking, starting as a credit trainee at American Express. He led the Latin America credit group of Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co. and then was head of the asset-based financing group of Chemical Bank in Latin America, Chemco. During his tenure with Chemical Bank, Mr. Ramirez established branches in several Latin American countries, formed joint ventures with local financial groups and his division became the most profitable division of the bank. Additionally at Chemical Bank he created unique financing products for Latin American Corporate and Government borrowers.
In expanding his skills in specialty lending for Latin America corporations, Mr. Ramirez branched out on his own and built several businesses to advise Latin American governments and private corporations that were seeking to expand into the Latin America region. These enterprises were later sold or merged with larger companies.
In 1994, Mr. Ramirez’ services were engaged by Garban, the world’s leading interdealer brokerage firm, to develop the emerging markets group for the firm. In a period of 3 years, he took the firm from being the last broker to enter the emerging markets space to #2 in the rankings among 12 interdealer brokers. Following this very successful endeavor, Mr. Ramirez joined MFR Securities Inc. in 1999.
Under his leadership the Firm has achieved substantial growth, expanded its client base and grown its equity from $200,000 in 1999 to more than $9 million today. MFR. is now one of the leaders in the diversity space offering a broad range of services and financial products to its clients and maintaining a team of ethical and productive individuals who make MFR one of the best places to work in the diversity space and together fulfill the mission of the company.
